Burmese Betel Box
An important part of traditional Burmese hospitality, a “kun it” held the ingredients for betel nut chewing and was offered to honoured guests.
This fine example was made from spun bamboo, lined with linen, and approx. 20 coats of lacquer, coloured with cinnabar and decorated with an auspicious depiction of “The Life of Buddha”.
